You think you know what a baguette is? You think it is a long loaf of bread, weighing half a pound? Or do you want to know what baguette in France really is?

Yes, in French a baguette may also mean a magic wand! I wonder how long it took French teenagers to figure out that Hagrid sent Harry to buy a wand instead of some bread.

Baguette, literally, means stick. And because of that, a lot of things that loosely resemble a stick are called baguettes in France.
